When 50 Cent assumed the task of executive production of Pop Smoke’s album Shoot for the Sky, Aim for the moon, posthumously, he promised to Pop Smoke, the star of Brooklyn, that his album is going to win many awards, he would make this album that good.
50 Cent’s exact words were “He told his mom, he wanted to take her to an award show. So i’m gonna make sure his album gets her there,”
Just what 50 Cent predicted became true on October 27, 2020, the late star, Pop Smoke’s album won the award for Best New Hip-Hop Artist, beating artists like Flo Milli, Jack Harlow, Rod Wave and NLE Choppa.
Pop Smoke’s album was one of the top-selling projects of the whole year, so this album really deserved the award.
On the big win, 50 Cent articulated officially “Ok, he got one, for his mom. @roddyricch thank you for helping me with this. She wants to Woo.”
But, because of the situtation, Pop Smoke’s mother was unable to attend and accept his award and the hosts of the show accepted the award on his behalf.
To pay homage to the late star, Quavo performed in the show, rapping a live rendition of “Aim For the Moon”.
The rising star of Brooklyn, Pop Smoke was shot to death in a home invasion, in a house he was renting. This win must have been a bittersweet moment for his fan and family.
